BBC1 ‘Faith & Dementia’ – Songs of Praise launches Dementia Action Week, feeling so blessed having co-produced a section of this TV feature which will be broadcasted Sunday 12th May 1.15 pm.

Their CTVC LIMITED broadcast team recently visited us at the ‘Sheffield Memory Hub’ spending an interactive day as our Members demonstrated;

🚀 Ways in which the ‘African & African Caribbean Dementia Toolkit triggers memories, conversations, meaningful engagement and person-centered care.

🚀 The part faith plays for people facing the profound challenges presented by dementia.

👍🏿Rev Canon Kate Bottley is in the congregation for an accessible service of worship in Lichfield Cathedral, joining Christians living with dementia and those who care for them, with over 400 adults and children coming together from churches, care homes, schools and the community.

👍🏿 Canon Treasurer at Lichfield Cathedral David Primrose highlights how the Cathedral has been hosting regular dementia-friendly services and is part of the Dementia-Friendly Churches and Schools network, bringing together communities

🚀 Increasing understanding about dementia, listening to its impact and committing to stay in step with those living with dementia.

🚀 Over 100 local churches have committed to take action, becoming more dementia-friendly.

👍🏿The legendary singer Tony Christie who was diagnosed in 2021 and is now an ambassador for ‘Music for Dementia’, is also a major contributor.

🚀 Tony shares aspects of his journey with dementia and the power of music and faith to help those living with the condition.

🚀 Singing hymns is a great example of how people living with dementia can benefit from the power of music to ease their symptoms of anxiety or distress.

🚀 We all have a soundtrack to our lives and for many of us we will remember hymns from schooldays or if we were a guide or scout.
